How to use this tool
- Press Start camera and answer the browser’s permission request. The microphone is not requested.
- After access is allowed, choose a camera from the list. Check available front and rear cameras with an ordinary, well-lit subject.
- Press Stop camera when finished. Switching away from the page also stops the preview.
Understanding your results
A visible preview confirms that this browser received video from the selected camera. It does not certify image quality, every lens, autofocus, stabilization or recording performance. Permission errors and unavailable lenses are not proof of hardware damage.
Check the image you actually see
Look for a clear preview in normal lighting and move a subject gently to observe whether the picture updates. Clean the lens if the image appears cloudy, and check for a case covering it. Bright light, low light and browser processing can affect the result. Compare with the phone’s own camera app if the preview is blurry, dark or unexpectedly mirrored.
Front camera, rear camera and webcam
Once you grant permission, the selector lists the cameras the browser exposes. Names come from your browser or device. A phone with several physical lenses may expose only one or two choices, and a desktop computer may have just one webcam. Switching selections stops the previous stream before opening another. Access to every physical lens cannot be guaranteed by a website.
Your preview stays on your device
This tool requests video only. It does not record clips, take photos or upload frames. Stop ends the active camera tracks; moving the page into the background also stops them. Browser permissions may remain saved after the preview ends, and you can revoke them in the site settings. If access is refused or another app is using the camera, check permissions and close the other app before retrying.
